Class Summary

For this week we have to turn in our progression of our MyTiger Value poster. We have to make up our concept rather than to start illustrating without any ideas. Mr Hafiz will give us feedback on our concepts and help us improve our ideas. After communicate our ideas and have improvement, we can try to digitalize our idea on Adobe Illustrator.

1. My Tiger Value Poster Progression

For the first progression for me to do is to make sure on the topic of the poster.

Fig 6.1 MyTiger Value Poster

For the topic of this year is Sustainable Government Goals , and I have a research on what is sdg?

SDG stands for Sustainable Development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations in 2015. These goals are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is a plan of action aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring peace and prosperity for all people by the year 2030.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cover a broad range of interconnected issues, including poverty eradication, education, gender equality, clean energy, sustainable cities, climate action, responsible consumption, and biodiversity conservation, among others. Each goal has specific targets and indicators to track progress.

Fig 6.2 SDG Goals

I have choose one of the topic for my poster design, it is Climate Action. Climate action is essential to address the environmental impacts of human activities on the planet. The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrial processes, and other human-induced activities release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, leading to global warming and climate change. Understanding climate action helps us comprehend the causes and consequences of these actions and provides us with strategies to mitigate their harmful effects. And that is the main reason I choose this theme.

Here are some slogans for climate action:
1."Change the Climate"
2."Power for Planet"
3."Act, Impact, Change"
4."Sustainability Starts Now"
5."Protect Our Planet"
6."Clean Energy Revolution"
7."Preserve Earth's Future"
8.Green Actions Matter"
9."Climate, Our Responsibility"
10."Unite for Environment"

I decide to use the slogan "Change the Climate" in my design to express the importance of climate action.

Fig 6.3 First Attempt

Initially, I conceived the idea of illustrating a parched land affected by drought. Through my art, I depicted the dryness and aridity of the land. However, I went further by incorporating flowing words resembling water, thus creating a stark contrast against the barren terrain. My intention was to convey the message that with climate action, we possess the ability to bring about a transformative change in our climate.

Fig 6.4 Green Plant

Fig 6.5 Green Plant Position

In my design, I placed a vibrant green plant at the heart of the water-inspired words. This deliberate choice aimed to symbolize the inherent connection between water and life. It served as a visual representation that where there is an abundance of water, there is the potential for flourishing life forms. However, the underlying message conveyed through this artwork is the crucial role of climate action. By highlighting the plant amidst the water, I sought to emphasize that without effective climate action, the prospect of new life and a thriving future in our world becomes increasingly uncertain.

Fig 6.6 Fish Bone

In my artistic representation, I incorporated a fish bone to illustrate the detrimental effects of drought. The presence of the fish bone serves as a stark reminder that climate action is intricately connected to the well-being of every individual. It aims to raise awareness among viewers, prompting them to recognize the urgent need for collective action. By emphasizing the fish bone, I intended to convey the message that we must prioritize our focus and take decisive steps to prevent the devastating consequences of climate change.

Fig 6.7 Slogan Texture

For the design of the slogan I have use 3 different colours to make an effect on the water flow. I have some idea from the lake, and I make some flows to let it be more realistic. For the word from the top to the bottom I use different brightness of the colour. From the top I use brighter blue and the bottom I use darker blue, the reason is I want to be make layers and more gradient feel to make the visual more interesting.

Final Outcome

Fig 6.8 Final Poster Brown

Fig 6.9 Final Poster white

After careful deliberation, I found myself torn between choosing a dark or bright background for my final project. However, after weighing the options and contemplating the overall impact I wished to achieve, I ultimately settled on using a darker background. The darkness of the background is intended to create a sense of urgency and gravity, emphasizing the seriousness of the subject matter—the need for climate action. It is a visual representation of the challenges we face and the pressing nature of the issue. By opting for a darker backdrop, I hope to evoke a powerful response and inspire viewers to recognize the importance of taking immediate action to address climate change.

Global climate change refers to the average long-term changes over the entire Earth. These include warming temperatures and changes in precipitation, such as extreme weather that cause drought. Climate action is essential to every single living thing who live in our Mother Earth. The global community must collaborate and take comprehensive climate action measures to address this pressing issue. The message which I would like to express through my art work is we human must take action to change the world. For the design of my poster, I want to emphasize the impact of drought. I draw out the words just like the water that is important to us. It makes differences between the dry land and the words. I design the green plant in the middle of the words which express water. It expresses that if there is water, there is life. If the climate action is not taken, there will be no new life in our world in the future. The fish bone is to highlight the effect of the drought. It can aware people that the climate action is related to everyone’s life. We must focus and take action to prevent it.
