Project 2 Theme Based Scene Modeling

INSTRUCTIONS

Week 9 :
Project 2 Theme Based Scene Modeling
1. We are required to model a scene based environment on the provided themed concept using various techniques you have learned. The final output will be in a diorama or isometric composition.

2. Search reference images or blueprints.

3. Model the selected object using polygon tools and techniques based on what you have learnt.

4. Apply the right material and texture to give its appearance.

5. Set lighting and rendering using ‘Eevee’ or ‘Cycle’ as the rendering engine.

6. Use Eevee or Cycle rendering (Blender ) for final output. Output size is 1280 x 720 with png format.

# Ideation

For Project 2 theme-based scene modeling, I explored various references on Pinterest but initially struggled with deciding what to model. Reflecting on places I enjoy in my daily life, I considered both my bedroom and bathroom. Ultimately, I chose to model my bathroom for this project, as I felt the bedroom was a more common choice and wanted to take on something more unique.

# Progress

I began the modeling process with the walls and floor of the bathroom. I chose to recreate the square grid pattern on the floor, similar to the tiles in my own bathroom. Besides, I decided to model a window with the same design as the one in my bathroom to maintain authenticity.

Next, I modeled various other elements typically found in a bathroom. Using references, I created a handwash basin. I also added a mirror on the wall and placed carpets on the floor to enhance the scene's realism.

To give the bathroom a more filled and cozy appearance, I added a small table to hold shampoo and towels. Furthermore, I modeled a bathtub, reflecting my wish to have one in my bathroom in the future.

# Render progress

For the wooden elements, such as the table and the window frame, I added image textures. I found a suitable wood texture image and applied it to the models. For the bathroom's color scheme, I chose green and white as the primary colors because I like the fresh feeling they convey. To add a touch of realism, I used a golden texture for the metal parts.

Final Outcome for Project 2 :

FEEDBACK
For Project 2, Mr. Kamal noted that while I did a good job, my work seemed rather average compared to other students' projects. He suggested that adding more details could improve it.

REFLECTIONS
In Project 2 of the 3D modeling class, I focused on creating a theme-based scene by modeling my dream bathroom. This project provided an excellent opportunity to apply various 3D modeling techniques and explore my creative ideas. I started with fundamental elements like the walls and floor, then moved on to more intricate details such as the handwash basin, mirror, and carpets.

The process was both challenging and rewarding. I dedicated significant time to ensure each component was accurately modeled and aesthetically pleasing. One of the key aspects was using color schemes and textures that reflected my vision for the bathroom. Adding personal touches and refining details, such as improving lighting to address dark shadows, contributed to a more realistic and satisfying final result. Overall, this project enhanced my technical skills and allowed me to create a 3D model that closely matched my dream bathroom, leaving me with a strong sense of accomplishment.
